Responsibilities for the Library Associate include assisting professional librarians with collection development and maintenance, developing subject bibliographies, instructing students and staff in using library resources, promoting library services through tours and materials, conducting inventory of resources, facilitating project management tasks, ordering supplies as needed, generating reports, training and scheduling staff and student assistants, editing databases, overseeing the circulation desk when necessary, supporting interlibrary loan activities, maintaining public services policies and procedures, creating promotional materials for library services, providing assistance at the reference desk both in person and remotely via phone or online helpdesk channels.

The associate will also be responsible for responding to suggestions submitted through various channels within the library; performing weekly door alarm checks; keeping up with job-related reading; maintaining regular attendance; and performing other tasks as directed by the Public Services Librarian.

Candidates should be prepared to work evenings, weekends, odd hours or holidays if required. Occasional travel may also be necessary. Typical schedules vary depending on semester periods but generally fall between Sunday through Thursday afternoons into late evening hours or Monday through Friday during breaks.
