New Mexico United and the University of New Mexico (UNM) Athletics are continuing their partnership to address food insecurity through the “Fans Against Hunger” campaign. The initiative, which began earlier in the season, aims to bring together fans, local communities, and food banks across New Mexico.

The final food drive of the season will take place this Saturday. Donations collected during this event will be directed to The Community Pantry in Gallup. Fans who contribute five or more non-perishable food items will receive tickets either to New Mexico United’s September 10 home match against Detroit City FC or to the UNM Football home opener. Contributions can be made in the tailgating area from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM before the evening match.

“Fans Against Hunger” has involved collaboration between New Mexico United, UNM Athletics, and UNM with food banks throughout New Mexico. They have hosted supply drives at select tailgates and distributed needed items to families in many communities.

According to organizers, all donations gathered will go to food banks serving various areas statewide. This effort is intended to make a significant impact by uniting people across New Mexico.

"Fans Against Hunger has seen New Mexico United, UNM Athletics, and UNM collaborate with food banks throughout the state, hosting supply drives at select tailgates and delivering the most-needed items to families across dozens of New Mexico communities."

"Collected donations will be delivered to food banks serving dozens of communities statewide, making a tangible impact and harnessing the collective strength of New Mexicans to build a stronger, more compassionate future."
