Goodwill Industries of New Mexico opened its 20th store in the state on August 7, marking a new location at 270 98th Street SW on Albuquerque’s West Side. The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the 18,500-square-foot building, which broke ground six months prior.
The nonprofit has operated in New Mexico since 1941 and funds its free programs largely through revenue from its retail stores. According to Goodwill, 88 cents of every dollar earned supports services such as job training, career services, skills classes, and housing support.
The new store is the organization’s tenth location in Albuquerque. In its most recent annual report for 2024, Goodwill stated it served nearly 22,000 people statewide and helped employ over 1,600 individuals.
The West Side location will employ 23 people and includes retail space as well as areas for office work and job training. A donation drop-off area is also available at the site.
“The Chamber congratulates Goodwill Industries of New Mexico for continuing its mission in providing educational and professional services for New Mexicans,” said a representative from the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce.
