Deb Haaland, current governor of New Mexico and former U.S. Secretary of the Interior, recently highlighted her administration’s priorities and campaign commitments in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On August 15, 2025, Haaland wrote: "New Mexico at the top of a good list because we were bold and invested in our kids. I’ll keep this momentum going as governor."
The following day, she addressed environmental issues in recognition of National Water Quality Month. On August 16, 2025, she posted: "August is National Water Quality Month, and New Mexicans know that water is life. Water is truly one of the cornerstones of our livelihood —from safe drinking water to irrigation, to acequias. As governor, I promise to continue protecting one of our most sacred resources."
Later that same day, Haaland shared insights from her visit to Eastern New Mexico: "My time in Eastern New Mexico brought sunshine and smiles! The people of Portales know that New Mexico needs a fierce fighter to protect New Mexicans from the devastating impacts from the Trump Administration. I'm eager to continue to fighting for the people, our lands, and build"
Haaland has served as governor since January 2023 after previously leading the Department of the Interior as the first Native American Cabinet secretary. Her tenure has been marked by an emphasis on child welfare investments and environmental stewardship.
