On August 9, 2025, Haaland highlighted the significance of Fort Sumner’s tourism sector and community engagement by stating: "Fort Sumner was Fierce! Similar to other places in the state, Fort Sumner has a robust tourism industry due to its unique history. Thank you to everyone who came out to discuss the issuesand share ways we can work to support and expand industries in rural communities."
Two days later, on August 11, 2025, she addressed her ongoing commitment to Tribal nations with a message about collaboration with the Pueblo of Jemez: "Every Tribe in our state is unique and I will always work to empower Tribal communities and address their specific challenges. I’m honored to have the trust of the Pueblo of Jemez. Together we will fight to protect our cultural values, traditions, and economic future for every"
Continuing her outreach in rural New Mexico, Haaland wrote on August 12, 2025: "We had a terrific time in Tucumcari talking about their transportation and renewable energy economies. We have the potenial to grow a reliable clean energy economy in rural communities while lowering utility bills. I'm looking forward to strengthening them every step of the way."
