The University of New Mexico is introducing a new initiative aimed at making Lobo Football games more accessible to families. As part of this effort, fans purchasing a single-game general admission ticket in the North End Zone can receive up to two free tickets for children aged 12 and under. This offer applies to all 2025 home games, with the exception of the Rio Grande Rivalry on September 27. The initiative is sponsored by The Education Plan.
Tickets must be purchased through www.GoLobos.com/tickets by selecting Football and then the "Kids Free Initiative." Fernando Lovo, Vice President and Director of Athletics, said, "We want to create a great home field advantage for Lobo Football, and the best way to do that is to have our stands full. But we also recognize that families are making tough decisions with their discretionary income, and this feels like a win-win. It provides affordable access to a great product and a memorable experience for kids and parents alike."
Lovo emphasized the importance of allowing young fans to see student-athletes as role models: "These student-athletes are incredible representatives of our university and our state. Giving the next generation a chance to see them up close and to dream big is absolutely the right thing to do."
This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance game day experiences and accessibility for fans. A new affordability-focused program will be announced soon. Additionally, improvements include a $1.2 million video board upgrade at University Stadium.
The Lobos' season begins on September 6 against Idaho State, marking one of five games eligible for the "Kids 12 & Under Get In Free" offer. Other eligible games include matchups against Nevada on October 18, Utah State on October 25, Colorado State on November 15, and San Diego State on November 28.
