Eastern New Mexico University has been recognized as the 2024-25 Lone Star Conference (LSC) Sports Information Staff of the Year. The announcement was made by league officials during the annual LSC Sports Information Directors Meeting in McKinney, Texas.

This award, now in its fourth year, honors the top institutional sports information staff as chosen by votes from the conference’s sports information directors. It acknowledges professionals who provide year-round support to student-athletes and coaches.

Jose Montoya, Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications, leads Eastern New Mexico’s sports information team. He is supported by Cameron Brennan, Sports Information and Media Coordinator. In addition to their efforts, several student-workers on the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll contributed during the 2024-25 academic year: Isabella Robertson, Vivian Iracheta, Lanah Rubi and Sydney Iracheta. Robertson has served in this role for three years. The staff manages communications for all 16 Greyhound athletic teams.

During 2024-25, Eastern New Mexico directed sports information operations for both the LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The team also covered notable achievements such as the women’s basketball program’s first win in the NCAA Division II playoffs and representation of seven athletes at NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Montoya has worked at Eastern New Mexico since 2022 and brings 11 years of experience in sports information roles at institutions including Kansas, Knox College, and Wisconsin. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the LSC Sports Information Directors group and helps with photography at conference events. Montoya is also a voter for the Division II Sports Information Directors Association South Central Regional men’s basketball poll. His professional development includes participation in diversity fellowships through College Sports Communicators (CSC) as well as grants from both CSC and NCAA supporting diversity initiatives.

Outside his university duties, Montoya holds a leadership position with a local Knights of Columbus council in Portales, N.M., and participates in national golf tournaments.

Brennan has been with Eastern New Mexico for four years after previous graduate assistant work at Suffolk University. With seven years’ experience overall in sports information roles, he handles primary statistical inputting responsibilities for ENMU athletics.

Both Montoya and Brennan are known within the conference for assisting colleagues when needed. They are active members of CSC.

Previous recipients of this honor include Midwestern State (2023-24), St. Mary’s (2022-23), and UT Tyler (2021-22).

"The award...is given to the top institutional sports information staff as voted on by the league’s sports information directors and recognizes the on-campus professionals who work throughout the year in service to student-athletes and coaches."
