The University of New Mexico began its football fall camp on Wednesday morning with a practice session that lasted over two hours. The team had five healthy quarterbacks participating, an improvement from the end of spring practice when only James Laubstein and Gabe Motschenbacher were available.
Jack Layne made his return to the field and participated in passing drills. The quarterback group also included Connecticut transfer Cole Welliver and freshman Toa Faavae, joining Laubstein and Motschenbacher.
Returning defensive tackle Okiki Olorunfunmi was recognized as the first player to pick up the opening hammer of fall camp.
After practice, head coach Jason Eck spoke to members of the media who observed the entire session.
