The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo has announced the addition of three new staff members: Olga Valanos, Brigette Smith, and Levi Heisinger. Olga Valanos steps into the role of Public Relations and Marketing Director, bringing over 15 years of experience in marketing and public relations. She is an MBA graduate from Loyola College and previously worked as the Communications Lead at a major school district foundation in San Antonio. Having lived in New Mexico for more than 12 years before, she is eager to return. "This is a gem of a museum in a building that looks like a gemstone, and I am excited to promote it along with the history of mankind’s mission to space," Valanos said.
Brigette Smith joins as the Front Desk Customer Service representative. Her background includes hotel front desk operations, retail management, and telecom sales. Smith expressed her enthusiasm for engaging with visitors, stating, "Every day, it’s different." She also has an interest in astronomy and space exploration.
Levi Heisinger returns to the museum as an Education Coordinator and Planetarium Projectionist after interning there in 2022 and working full-time from 2023 to 2024. He holds an associate's degree in arts from NMSUA and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in history while maintaining his full-time position at the museum. "I feel like I am back home with my work family, teaching space science and having fun in the process," Heisinger commented.
