Steve Loy, Co-President of SPORTFIVE, discussed his journey in the sports industry during an interview on ESPN Radio 101.7's "TEAM TALK." He attributed his success to the values of gratitude and determination, which he developed during his upbringing in New Mexico.

"I'm grateful because New Mexico and all the people involved gave me the opportunity to be who I am today," said Loy. "The sky is the limit unless you put limits on yourself. Golf was the opportunity. Football was my passion. I became a great golf coach because of the people I was approached with."

According to the interview, Loy's return to New Mexico for his Hall of Fame induction marked a significant milestone in his career. He reflected on reconnecting with former teammates at a Sandia High School alumni dinner, describing it as "just a wonderful feeling to have everybody back together, maybe the last time for a lot of us." Loy also spoke about growing up near Princess Jeanne Park in Albuquerque and paid tribute to his late father, whom he described as "my hero for life," crediting him with instilling values of hard work, gratitude, and grace.

As President of Global Golf at SPORTFIVE, Loy has played a pivotal role in establishing the agency as a leader in event ownership, operations, and talent representation within professional golf. SPORTFIVE manages several premier events on the PGA TOUR calendar and supports international tournaments like the Singapore Open. Loy has assembled a roster featuring major champions such as Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm, and Keegan Bradley.

In 2024, Steve Loy and his family made a landmark philanthropic donation of $2.5 million to Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU), marking the largest single gift in the institution’s history. The donation led to renaming the university’s stadium and arena after the Loy family and established funding for scholarships and leadership training programs for student-athletes. ENMU President James Johnston described this contribution as transformative for expanding educational access in New Mexico’s higher education landscape.

Loy's career began in collegiate athletics where he emerged as a national championship-winning golf coach at Scottsdale Community College and later at Arkansas and Arizona State University. During his coaching tenure, he developed multiple All-Americans and mentored future professionals.
