Stefani Lord, a state representative for New Mexico’s District 22, said that the federal charges filed against Jamison Wagner in connection with the arson attacks on a Tesla showroom and the Republican Party office in Albuquerque reflect the seriousness of the crimes. She made this statement in a post on X.

"Albuquerque Man Charged in Connection with Arson Attacks on Tesla Dealership and Republican Party of New Mexico Office," said Lord, New Mexico State Representative for 22nd District (R). "I'm glad this dangerous punk is off the streets. Good job FBI Director Kash and FBI. If convicted, make an example of him, Attorney General Pamela Bondi."

In early 2025, Albuquerque, New Mexico, experienced two politically charged arson attacks: one targeting a Tesla dealership and another striking the New Mexico Republican Party headquarters. On February 9, vandals torched two Tesla vehicles and spray-painted them with swastikas and anti-Tesla slogans. Then on March 30, the Republican office was firebombed, with graffiti reading "ICE=KKK" found at the scene. According to the Associated Press, these attacks are part of a growing trend of politically motivated violence across the United States.

According to Reuters, Jamison R. Wagner has been federally charged with arson for these attacks. Investigators discovered incendiary devices, matching spray paint, and stencils in his home. The Department of Justice (DOJ) said that Wagner faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted, emphasizing the seriousness of politically motivated crimes. He remains in custody as of April 2025, pending further court proceedings.

Politically motivated arson and violence have increased across the U.S. over the past five years, with multiple high-profile incidents reported by the Associated Press. Recent examples include the January 6 Capitol riot, an attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, and the 2025 arson of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s home. These cases highlight a disturbing rise in threats targeting political figures and institutions nationwide.

Lord is a representative in the New Mexico House serving District 22 since 2021. According to her biography, she holds a psychology degree from Portland State University and previously worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
