Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has recently highlighted several state initiatives and commemorations through her social media posts. The governor addressed New Mexico's legal action against federal PFAS contamination, celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, and commented on federal food assistance policies during a government shutdown.
On November 10, 2025, Governor Lujan Grisham wrote: "New Mexico is fighting back against federal PFAS contamination—and leading the nation. This post refers to ongoing litigation initiated by New Mexico in response to chemical contamination linked to military installations.
Later that day, she marked a significant military milestone: "Happy 250th birthday to the United States Marine Corps! Since Nov. 10, 1775, Marines have answered the call with courage and honor — 250 years of service, sacrifice and dedication to our nation. In another post dated November 11, 2025, Governor Lujan Grisham criticized federal management of nutrition assistance programs during a government shutdown: "The Trump administration’s chaotic approach to #SNAP funding during the shutdown demonstrates exactly why this special session was important. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are persistent chemicals found in firefighting foams that have been linked to water contamination near military bases nationwide. In response to these environmental concerns, New Mexico filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense in 2019 after detecting PFAS pollution affecting local agriculture and communities surrounding Cannon and Holloman Air Force Bases.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides food assistance for low-income Americans but has faced administrative challenges during periods when federal government operations are disrupted by budget disputes or shutdowns.
