The New Mexico Senate convened for a Saturday floor session as the legislative session approaches its final two weeks. The session included the passage of Senate Bill 169, which aims to accelerate economic development in the state.
Senate Bill 169, sponsored by Senate Majority Whip Michael Padilla (D-Albuquerque), was passed with a vote of 37-2. The bill focuses on enhancing economic growth and comprehensive planning by supporting infrastructure improvements at potential sites, guided by an advisory committee. This initiative aligns with similar site readiness programs in place across 27 states.
"This legislation will demonstrate, in a big way, that New Mexico is open for business," said Senate Majority Whip Michael Padilla (D-Albuquerque) following the bill's passage.
