Tomorrow, the House Commerce and Economic Development Committee is set to review House Bill 11, known as the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act. The bill proposes a significant tax increase of half a billion dollars at a time when state funds are reportedly abundant. It aims to provide three months of paid leave for various individuals, extending beyond traditional family or medical leave.
The legislation would also result in an expansion of the bureaucracy by over 200 personnel, surpassing the current staff size managing workers' compensation. Those opposing the bill are encouraged to contact committee members through their legislative website profiles.
"Please contact members of the committee to register your opposition by clicking here," reads a call to action from those against the bill. "This will take you to the committee page on the legislative website. Scroll down and you will find each committee member’s name. Click on their name and you can send them an email."
