A coalition of civil rights, immigrants' rights, and reproductive rights organizations in New Mexico is set to host a virtual briefing on January 30 at 10:30 a.m. The event aims to equip journalists with the necessary context to understand privacy issues facing New Mexicans and effectively report on related legislation during the upcoming session.
The proposed legislation is deemed crucial due to heightened concerns under the new Trump administration regarding digital surveillance, data sharing among agencies, access to reproductive healthcare information, and protection of immigrant communities' data.
Reporters will have the opportunity to engage actively by asking questions throughout the presentation.
The briefing will feature speakers Gabriela Ibañez Guzmán from Somos Un Pueblo Unido, Laura Rivera from Just Futures Law, Deanna Warren from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of New Mexico, Marshall Martinez from Equality New Mexico (EQNM), and Kat Sanchez from Bold Futures.
The event will take place on Zoom, and registration is required through a provided link. A Zoom link will be sent upon RSVP.
