Albuquerque, New Mexico - The Guttmacher Institute has released data showing a significant rise in out-of-state abortions in New Mexico following the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022. In 2023, 71% of abortions performed in New Mexico were for women from other states, compared to 38% in 2020. The total number of abortions increased from 5,880 in 2020 to 20,950 in 2023.

A report from the Pinon Post highlights that "14,200 Texas babies were killed in the womb in New Mexico," indicating that most out-of-state abortions are sought by women traveling from Texas. Tara Shaver of Abortion Free New Mexico said: "Every day Abortion Free New Mexico volunteers minister to out-of-state women coming to Albuquerque for abortions... It is time for more concerned citizens to rise up and be engaged in the battle for Life."

Since Roe v. Wade was overturned, there has been a nationwide increase in abortions from 930,160 in 2020 to 1,037,200 in 2023. Shaver continued: "Since Roe v. Wade was overturned... Pre-born babies all across America need and deserve constitutional personhood from the moment of conception."
