Water issues in New Mexico will be the focus of an upcoming forum hosted by the Green Justice team at First Congregational UCC, in collaboration with IPL-New Mexico El Paso. The event aims to address the state's dwindling water supply and explore ways to advocate for increased water funding during the 2025 New Mexico Legislative session.
The forum is scheduled for Sunday, January 12, at 11:45 a.m. It will take place at First Congregational UCC, located at 2801 Lomas Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, specifically in the Music Room.
Norm Gaume, President of NM Water Advocates and former director of the Interstate Stream Commission, will be the guest speaker. Gaume has dedicated his career to managing water resources in New Mexico and played a role in developing the 50-Year Water Action Plan. He now focuses on educating and organizing citizens to participate actively in shaping the state's water future.
For those unable to attend in person, Rev. Clara Sims can be contacted at clara@nm-ipl.org for a Zoom link to join remotely.
