US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents from the Las Cruces Station intercepted a smuggling attempt during a checkpoint inspection, according to El Paso Sector Chief Anthony "Scott" Good. This was reported in a December 20 post on X.
In his post, Chief Patrol Agent Good said, "Las Cruces Station Border Patrol Agents disrupted a human smuggling attempt, discovering 37 migrants concealed in a tractor-trailer during a checkpoint inspection. Their unwavering vigilance keeps our communities safe."
The U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector is responsible for approximately 268 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, covering areas in West Texas and New Mexico. The New Mexico portion includes operations at the Lordsburg, Deming, and Santa Teresa stations. Agents patrol diverse terrains including urban areas, deserts, and mountains to monitor and secure the border. The sector also processes individuals encountered along the border and collaborates with state and local law enforcement for security operations. It employs surveillance and technology to detect unauthorized crossings and other border activities.
