Amid the ongoing shift from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources, the demand for transitional minerals is on the rise. This situation poses significant questions about mining practices, particularly on Indigenous lands. A recent webinar addressed these concerns and explored how people of faith and conscience might respond.

The event was co-sponsored by the Western State Affiliates of Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) and national IPL. Clara Sims, assistant executive director for IPL New Mexico and El Paso, was featured as a panelist. Participants gained insights into the mining landscape in the United States through discussions with experts on extractivism.

The webinar aimed to provide a platform for dialogue on the ethical implications of mining in an era of increasing reliance on green technology.
