Today, the Republican Party of New Mexico commemorates September 11, 2001, a day that significantly impacted the nation. Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger planes and executed multiple suicide attacks. Two planes hit the World Trade Center in New York City, one struck the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and one crashed into an open field.

Following the strikes on the Twin Towers, both buildings collapsed, trapping thousands under debris. First responders and other individuals risked their lives to rescue as many people as possible.

Nearly 3,000 Americans perished in these terrorist attacks, including passengers, civilians, and first responders. Despite the tragedy, the nation united in strength and love for each other and the country. The American spirit enabled healing and rebuilding stronger than before.

"Let us always remember the great Americans who were tragically taken from us on September 11th, 2001," states a representative from RPNM. "Let us never forget what strength we are capable of when we stand united as a country in our shared American values."
