Goodwill Industries of New Mexico reopened its renovated workforce training center, now known as The Opportunity Center, on September 17. Located at 5000 San Mateo Blvd. NE, the center aims to support New Mexicans in achieving their career goals.
Nina Chavez, director of government relations for Goodwill Industries of New Mexico, stated, "(The center provides a) wonderful chance to see first-hand how we are supporting New Mexicans achieve their career goals and thrive."
The Opportunity Center will continue offering various programs to the public:
- Gateway To Work Employer Services: Provides employer-centered assistance in finding qualified candidates at no cost through career specialists, career fairs, and interview events.
- GoodJobs: Connects individuals with employers throughout the community to help them find long-term employment that meets their needs and interests.
- GoodSkills: Offers comprehensive job readiness training, including hiring essentials, employment basics, and computer skills.
- Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program: Focuses on placing veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness into long-term employment and provides social services.
- Production Assistant Training: Prepares candidates for jobs in the film and TV industry in New Mexico.
- Supportive Services for Veteran Families: Helps stabilize housing for very low-income veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Veteran Family Services: Provides job development, paid on-the-job training through Trial Works, and comprehensive case management to veterans and their family members.
- Senior Community Service Employment Program: Offers low-income seniors aged 55+ work experience and training to assist them in securing permanent community-based employment.
