La Sociedad para Las Artes at New Mexico State University will host a public reading event featuring writer Karen Brennan and poet Joni Wallace. This event is part of the Nelson-Boswell Reading Series, which invites visiting writers to NMSU to share their work with the community.

Karen Brennan is the author of nine books, encompassing poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and an AWP Award. Brennan is professor emerita of English and creative writing at the University of Utah. Joni Wallace’s poetry and hybrid works (sound, video) have been published in numerous journals. Her documentary poetry collection has been anthologized in “Privacy Policy: The Poetry of Surveillance” and featured by both the Scottish Poetry Library and the Poetry Society of America.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, in CMI Theatre in Milton Hall, Room 171.

Attendees can expect readings from both authors' works. Copies of Brennan’s recent story collection “The Rabbit in the Moon” and Wallace’s collection “Landscape with Missing River” will be available for purchase. A reception will follow the event.
