ALBUQUERQUE - ABCWUA crews will commence a project on August 26 to install a connector pipe across Morris Street, enhancing the utility’s non-potable water system. This system is utilized for irrigation of parks and golf courses on the north side of town. The connection work aims to provide an additional supply option.
The Central New Mexico Community College north entrance will be closed starting August 26, followed by the closure of both north and southbound Morris on September 4. These measures are intended to ensure the safety of crews, commuters, and the surrounding neighborhood.
Water and sewer services will remain unaffected during this project. The sidewalk along Morris Street will stay open; however, bicyclists and pedestrians must detour around the road closure to cross Morris Street. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, obey construction signs, follow detours, reduce speed, and allow extra time for travel. Alternative routes are recommended.
The project is scheduled to conclude by September 20, 2024. Regular work hours are Monday-Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to noon. Barricades will remain in place around the clock for safety reasons.
