In observance of Labor Day, most City of Las Cruces offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. However, all emergency services, including police and fire, will operate as usual.
City offices and facilities closed on Labor Day include:
- A Fielder Memorial Safe Haven
- City Hall
- East Mesa Recreation Center
- Castaneda Service Center (Parks & Recreation Administration Offices)
- Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center
- Youth Development & Diversion Learning Center
- Meerscheidt Recreation Center
- Las Cruces Museum System, including Branigan Cultural Center, the Museum of Art, Museum of Nature and Science, and the Railroad Museum
- Las Cruces Public Libraries, including Thomas Branigan Memorial Library and branch libraries at Munson Center and Sage Café
- Rio Grande Theatre
- All RoadRUNNER Transit operations and facilities
- All Senior Programs facilities and services
- South Central Solid Waste Authority administrative offices
The Foothills Landfill will be closed on Labor Day but will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Operating or open with hours includes:
- Residential and Commercial collections will run as normal on September 2, 2024.
- South Central Solid Waste Transfer Station at 2865 W. Amador Ave., and Corralitos Landfill will be open with regular hours.
Laabs Outdoor Pool – Free Swim Day – Sessions noon to 3 p.m. and 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
East Mesa Bataan Memorial Outdoor Pool – Free Swim Day – Sessions noon to 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Regional Aquatic Center Open from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Las Cruces Natatorium Open from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
Realize Las Cruces Public Comment is scheduled for September 10, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the East Mesa Public Safety Complex in the Main Conference Room at 550 N Sonoma.
The OIR Group, hired by the City of Las Cruces in 2021 to audit the police department, will host a community outreach meeting on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024.
Community Engagement is facilitating a program for high school students to gain knowledge about local government operations and resources provided by the city government to improve the community’s well-being.
