Las Cruces Police Department hosts Lunchbox Lemonade event

The Las Cruces Police Department’s Community Outreach Team will host its next Lunchbox Lemonade Friday at the Metro Verde Splash Pad.

The Lunchbox Lemonade series encourages Las Cruces residents of all ages to have lunch, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the Community Outreach Team at an area splash pad. Participants can visit with team members, discuss police matters, and share their concerns about public safety while their children cool off in the splash pad.

Lunchbox Lemonade will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, at the Metro Verde Splash Pad, located at 7125 Metro Park St.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own sack lunch. The Las Cruces Police Department will provide free popsicles and lemonade courtesy of a community partnership with Raising Cane’s restaurant.

The Lunchbox Lemonade series finale will be held on Aug. 23 at Unidad Park.

Dates and locations for the events are as follows:

- Aug. 9: Metro Verde Splash Pad, 7125 Metro Park St.

- Aug. 23: Unidad Park Splash Pad, 1501 E. Hadley Ave.

Additionally, the City of Las Cruces is hosting several other community events:

- Realize Las Cruces OPEN HOUSE on August 8, 2024, from 6 – 8 PM at City Hall Lerdo Room (2007B), located at 700 N Main Street, Las Cruces, NM.

- Financial literacy sessions in collaboration with the United Way of Southwest New Mexico.

- The Las Cruces Police Department is accepting applications for lateral transfers and recent retirees who have been retired for less than eight years.

- A community engagement program for high school students to learn about local government operations.

- An update to the City’s Land Development Code under the project Realize Las Cruces.

- A water conservation festival hosted by the Las Cruces Utilities Water Conservation Program for fourth graders.

- Primary Election Day on June 4, 2024.

- The Lush and Lean Program workshop by the City of Las Cruces Water Conservation.

- A Pre-Apprenticeship Program funded by the City of Las Cruces to support Culinary Arts education.

- The Small Business Storefront Repair Program offering grants up to $2,500 for property damage repairs.
