Mayor Tim Keller, City of Albuquerque | City of Albuquerque
The City has provided an update on the ongoing construction at North Domingo Baca Park. This week, crews mobilized to begin the next stage of construction for the Aquatic Center, and the tennis courts are being resurfaced.
Bradbury Stamm was awarded the contract for this stage of the Aquatic Center project. The work includes building the facility’s pump room, access road, storm drainage, as well as power, sewer, and water infrastructure. This phase aims to add necessary infrastructure for the natatorium or indoor pool. Crews commenced work this week and expect to complete this portion by September 2025. The cost for this part of the project is $12.7 million.
The overall plan features a 50-meter indoor Olympic competition pool, diving pool, heated 25-yard warmup pool, recreational play area with two slides, and seating for approximately 700 spectators. The Parks & Recreation Department will manage the facility designed by architecture firm Huitt-Zollars. The Department of Municipal Development oversees project management for construction. Previously completed work included a $5.3 million segment involving a large retaining wall and extensive site grading.
Additionally, all six tennis courts at North Domingo Baca Park are being resurfaced and will be temporarily closed for 2-3 weeks to allow efficient contractor work and proper curing of surfaces. This marks the first resurfacing since their construction in 2014.
The resurfacing process involves cleaning the courts, repairing cracks, and applying a new playing surface.
