Today, the U.S. Department of Education’s 2024 Title IX Regulations went into effect, prompting updates to the University Policy and Procedures Manual.
The manual now includes revisions to University Administrative Policy (UAP) 2720: Equal Opportunity and Prohibited Discrimination and Related Misconduct (Interim), UAP 2740: Sex-Based Discrimination Including Sexual Misconduct (Interim), and a new policy, UAP 2760: Pregnancy or Related Conditions (Interim).
Revisions and the creation of the new policy were approved under an abbreviated policy revision process described as "minor in nature and either required by regulatory changes or necessary to conform to current practices," according to Section 5.1 of UAP 1100 ("Development and Approval of University Policies").
The updated policies comply with several new regulatory requirements mandated by the U.S. Department of Education effective August 1, 2024. The policies remain labeled "Interim" and will undergo a regular policy revision process, including an all-campus review and comment period later this year.
