The New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe will be hosting a free PRIDE Movie Night this month to mark Pride Month. It will feature the film "Word is Out—Stories of Some of Our Lives."
According to an announcement on the New Mexico History Museum’s website, the film will be shown on June 21, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The announcement states that the 1977 film was the first feature-length documentary made by gay filmmakers to explore gay identity.
PRIDE Movie Night will also include never-before-seen footage of four New Mexico queer residents recounting their stories from 1977.
"Join us for an evening of nostalgia, insight, and celebration as we honor the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals. Don't miss this unique opportunity to witness history unfold on the silver screen and connect with the rich tapestry of our community's past," said the museum in its announcement.
The museum’s website indicates that the free movie night will be co-sponsored by the Human Rights Alliance of Santa Fe, Santa Fe Pride, the New Mexico History Museum, and La Montañita Food Co-op.
