The City of Albuquerque has announced two key promotions within the Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR). Clint Anderson has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Strategic Planning and Policy, while Jason Garcia will serve as the City’s Fire Marshal. These roles are pivotal in ensuring community safety and maintaining operational efficiency for AFR.

AFR Chief Emily Jaramillo expressed her confidence in the newly promoted officials. “Deputy Chief Anderson and Deputy Chief Garcia bring decades of experience to their new roles within Albuquerque Fire Rescue,” she said. “That time and dedication to service will benefit the department and Albuquerque residents. They are both proven leaders and will continue to be great assets to our team.”

Mayor Tim Keller also acknowledged the commitment of these individuals to their community. “Our fire department and the individuals who keep it running show up for our community in big and small ways every day,” he said. “We’re grateful for their commitment to serving our city and our families, and for the experience they bring to these crucial roles.”

Clint Anderson, a native of Florida but raised in Albuquerque from age 2, joined AFR in 2006 after graduating from La Cueva High School and studying Exercise Science at the University of New Mexico. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Chief, Anderson held various positions within AFR, including Quality Assurance Officer and Field Battalion Chief.

Jason Garcia, an Albuquerque native with a family history in firefighting, has been with AFR since 1998. He brings over 25 years of experience to his role as Fire Marshal, having served at all ranks within both field operations and the Fire Marshal's Office.

Both Anderson and Garcia are committed family men who contribute significantly not only to their professional roles but also their communities outside work.
