Santa Fe, NM- The Santa Fe Film Office has unveiled an exciting opportunity for aspiring Pueblo and Indigenous Director-Writers to partake in the tuition-free NYU Tisch Graduate Film Summer Workshop. As reported by the office, this initiative, in collaboration with Santa Fe Community College and the Institute of American Indian Arts, aims to empower diverse storytellers and elevate Indigenous voices within the film industry.

The workshop, scheduled to run for three weeks at Santa Fe Community College, will be led by esteemed faculty members from NYU Tisch's Graduate Film program. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply for this unique experience by visiting the provided link: bit.ly/NYUSantaFe. The application deadline is April 30, 2024.

According to the provided overview, the workshop will focus on developing skills and amplifying voices in support of Indigenous storytelling. Participants will engage in directing, writing, and hands-on filmmaking experiences, with classroom sessions in the mornings and practical exercises in the afternoons. Evenings will be dedicated to editing sessions and technical instruction in various aspects of film production.

In the final week of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to direct their own micro short films while collaborating with fellow students in different crew roles. Post-workshop support from NYU faculty and access to Santa Fe Community College's lab facilities will ensure the completion and screening of the films in the fall, with reviews conducted by NYU faculty.

Eligibility for the workshop is open to individuals of Pueblo or Indigenous descent who are 18 years of age or older, currently enrolled in college, recent graduates, or on a break from college. No prior film production experience is required, as long as applicants are passionate about telling Indigenous stories.
