Mayor Tim Keller, City of Albuquerque | City of Albuquerque

Albuquerque – The City of Albuquerque is taking steps to support the growth of commercial drivers in the area by assisting the CNM Ingenuity Commercial Driver's License (CDL) program. This initiative involves providing a bus for students to use during their training sessions, aiming to enhance the skills and opportunities for aspiring drivers.

Chief Financial Officer Kevin Sourisseau highlighted the city's dedication to fostering career pathways in high-demand sectors by stating, "Our collaboration with CNM underscores our commitment to supporting career pathways in high-demand industries. By providing a bus for CNM’s CDL program, we are giving students an opportunity to practice on the vehicles that drive Albuquerque forward."

The CDL program at CNM Ingenuity is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain a commercial driver's license, opening doors to employment in fields such as transportation, logistics, and distribution. CEO of CNM Ingenuity, Kyle Lee, emphasized the importance of such initiatives by stating, "CNM continues to innovate and work with our partners to create meaningful, hands-on experiences for our students as we build the skilled workforce our state needs. This bus will be a major asset for our CDL program and help us provide accessible, affordable, and high-quality training that meets the needs of our community. It’s also a great opportunity for community members to get this training and have opportunities for careers right here in the Albuquerque-metro area."

Individuals interested in pursuing training in the CDL program can benefit from significant funding opportunities that may cover the full cost of the training.
