Albuquerque Police Department (APD) has released the list of the top 10 wanted burglary offenders in the area, urging the community to be vigilant and report any information regarding these individuals. The announcement comes after recent arrests of repeat offenders in the Albuquerque area.

Among the wanted offenders, Axel Doerr stands out, having been charged with 14 counts of non-residential burglary after being connected to a series of storage unit burglaries. APD highlighted Antonio Atencio, wanted for aggravated burglary and other charges following a violent incident, as well as Michael Benavides, who caused damage to a local restaurant during a burglary.

In response to the increase in burglary cases, APD formed the Burglary Unit in 2023, focusing solely on commercial and residential burglary cases. The unit has recently added two detectives to enhance staffing levels and manage caseloads effectively.

As the warmer summer months approach, APD advises homeowners and business owners to take precautions against burglaries by installing security measures such as camera systems, lighting, and quality locks. They also recommend securing doors and windows properly, especially when leaving the property unattended.

To assist property owners, APD's Crime Prevention Unit offers free security surveys tailored to individual properties. These surveys provide recommendations based on the property's layout and environment. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to 242-COPS.

The public is urged to review the Top 10 Burglary Offender list attached and report any information on the offenders or their whereabouts to 242-COPS or Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers for further action.
