APD officers in Albuquerque have apprehended a second suspect in connection with a shooting incident that took place over the weekend. The suspect, identified as Zane Katzenberger, 18, was taken into custody following his involvement in the shooting in Downtown Albuquerque. According to reports, officers responded to the shooting after hearing gunshots and receiving a shot spotter activation.
Katzenberger was detained by officers after they observed a handgun in his possession. He reportedly admitted to being highly intoxicated at the time of the incident. Video footage of the shooting, which had been circulating on social media, showed Katzenberger and another individual pointing a firearm and shooting towards a crowd of people before fleeing the scene.
Katzenberger has been booked into the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center on charges including Aggravated Battery, Negligent use of a deadly weapon, and Unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon.
In a separate development, Andre Jaramillo, another individual involved in the shooting, contacted dispatch and surrendered himself to authorities. Following a search of his residence, two firearms were found, leading to Jaramillo's arrest. He has been booked into the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center on charges including Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Negligent use of a deadly weapon, Brandishing of a firearm, and Unlawful possession of a handgun by a person.
