A second murder suspect, Isaiah Siddell, has turned himself in to police in connection with the shooting death of Jacob Rivera on March 4, 2024. Siddell, 30, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of murder and other offenses. This comes after Gabriel Valenzuela-Greene, Jr. was arrested last week for the same murder, as well as another murder on March 13.
The tragic incident took place near Central Ave. and Louisiana Blvd. where Jacob Rivera and another individual were shot. Rivera succumbed to his injuries after being shot nine times, while the other victim, a woman, was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. The woman revealed to detectives that she and Rivera were smoking Fentanyl in an alleyway when the shooting occurred, with reports of a dispute over the drug's price leading up to the incident.
According to a witness, Siddell identified Rivera as the individual who previously shot him in the leg at a Pizza Hut on Jan. 31, 2024. The witness recounted that Valenzuela-Greene, Jr., known as "Memphis," then proceeded to shoot Rivera multiple times with a .380 caliber handgun. Subsequently, Valenzuela-Greene, Jr. allegedly boasted, "I am a real shooter. To be an example, you gotta lead by example."
Detectives gathered evidence including video surveillance, phone records, and ballistics analysis linking Valenzuela-Greene, Jr. to the crime scene and the Adam Food Market, where the suspects reportedly met after the shooting. Moreover, the weapon used in the shooting was connected to the January 31 incident and another case where Siddell shot a dog in the face at the same market.
The arrest of Siddell marks a significant development in the investigation into the tragic shooting of Jacob Rivera, shedding light on the events leading up to the unfortunate loss of life.
