Construction is underway at Ladera Golf Course as the Parks and Recreation Department (PRD) embarks on a new project to enhance the clubhouse building. The remodel, which spans 1,000 square feet on the west side of the building, aims to create a new lounge area that seamlessly connects to the existing outdoor patio.
PRD Director Dave Simon expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "This investment will add value to Ladera for golfers and the entire community. Play is up, customers are happy, and the improvements will take the atmosphere at the course to the next level."
While the patio will be temporarily closed during construction, the golf course and café will remain open to enthusiastic patrons. The Department of Municipal Development (DMD) has taken charge of managing the project, ensuring its smooth execution.
Ladera Golf Course, renowned for its stunning desert setting, lakes, and exceptional driving range, is set to become an even greater gem for Westside golfers and neighbors with the introduction of the new lounge. Patrick Montoya, director of DMD, expressed his excitement, saying, "The new Ladera Golf Course lounge will soon be a gem for Westside golfers and neighbors."
The total cost of the project amounts to $714,402. Funding for the remodel comes from City G.O. Bonds, generously contributed by Councilor Louie Sanchez, and state capital outlay funds, contributed by State Senator Antonio Maestes. Dyron Murphy Architects played a pivotal role in designing the remodel, while Franken Construction has been appointed as the project's contractor.
Ladera Golf Course, established in 1980, stands as the premier 27-hole golf course on the Westside. Over the past two decades, PRD has invested over $9 million to enhance the course. Notable improvements include the rebuild of the pro shop, café, and banquet room, the complete replacement of the irrigation system, the installation of solar panels in the parking lot, and the replacement of the 18-hole cart path.
The remodel project at Ladera Golf Course promises to elevate the overall experience for golfers and the local community. With a projected completion date in the spring, the future looks bright for this beloved golfing destination.
