The New Mexico Film Office (NMFO) has declared the second annual New Voices • New Mexico screenwriting incubator program, a collaboration with Stowe Story Labs, a success. Initiated in 2022, this initiative offers budding screenwriters an exclusive opportunity to hone their skills under the guidance of industry veterans.
For a span of six months, participants immersed themselves in intensive workshops, received personalized mentorship, and tapped into unique networking opportunities. According to a press release by NMFO, the program's location in New Mexico provided a distinct advantage as it allowed local participants to workshop their scripts amidst the state's diverse landscapes and vibrant cultures - elements that served as potent sources of inspiration for their writing.
Amber Dodson, Director of NMFO, expressed her views on the program in an NMFO press release. Dodson said, "New Voices • New Mexico has not only identified and nurtured talented writers but also showcased the immense potential within New Mexico to evolve into a bustling hub for film and television script development and screenwriting."
David Rocchio, Director of Stowe Story Labs, also shared his thoughts on the partnership with NMFO in another press release by NMFO. Under the umbrella of the Economic Development Department, NMFO serves the local, national, and international film and television industry. Its efforts are channeled towards maintaining and enhancing New Mexico's film incentive while promoting growth in the film, television, and digital media sector.
