The city of Albuquerque revealed that ABQ RIDE is upholding the longstanding Albuquerque Christmas Eve tradition with the Annual Luminaria Tour. This popular local event will take place in neighborhoods including Old Town, the Country Club, and Huning Castle, providing a festive experience for residents and visitors alike.

Let's delve into more details about the tour. Tickets for the Annual Luminaria Tour, a family-friendly event, will be available for purchase starting at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. While there is a small service fee at checkout, bus admission is free with Zero Fares. The tour is scheduled for Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24, with departure and return points at the Albuquerque Convention Center, offering multiple tour times from 5:30 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. Attendees are advised by the city to arrive at least 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time, and free parking is provided at the Civic Center parking structure and designated lots for individuals with disabilities, according to a press release by the city of Albuquerque.

Moving on to what officials have to say about this year's edition of the event, "ABQ RIDE is looking forward to continuing the 58-year tradition this year," said Transit Director Leslie Keener according to a press release by the city of Albuquerque. "Our team is working hard to make sure this is not only a fun and festive event but also a safe tour for all passengers."

We turn our attention now towards discussing how ABQ RIDE forms an integral part of Albuquerque’s Transit Department’s initiatives. The Albuquerque Transit Department focuses on providing efficient infrastructure services and diverse transportation options, emphasizing alternatives to single-occupancy vehicles. The Albuquerque Transit Department is committed to ensuring existing communities receive efficient infrastructure services, including sewer, storm, water, and road systems, as well as a comprehensive regional transportation network. ABQ RIDE, as part of this initiative, offers cleaner and compressed natural gas-fueled vehicles, extended service hours through dedicated tax funding, and promotes awareness of alternative transportation modes like ride-sharing, cycling and walking through market development and education programs according to the Albuquerque Transit Department website provided by the city of Albuquerque.
