The city of Albuquerque announced that the New Mexico Minority Business Development Agency Business Center (NM MBDA) was granted one of six Diverse Business Leader Awards for Outstanding Diversity in An Organization by Albuquerque Business First. NM MBDA was honored for its dedication to fostering diversity in its workforce through programs, initiatives, and resources, according to a press release by the city of Albuquerque.

The NM MBDA plans to enhance its support for small business owners by strategically opening offices, eliminating location limitations, and addressing the high demand for Spanish language resources in the border region. Since its establishment in 2020, the NM MBDA has secured nearly $3.5 million in grant funding. The center offers services including client bid opportunity sourcing, assistance with certifications and registrations, lending and equity proposal packaging, capital lending access, strategic planning consultation, international trade support and training.

“Our team is incredibly honored to be presented with this award, and we share it with all of the amazing businesses we have had the pleasure of working with over the last three years,” said NM MBDA Director Gabriela Marques. “We look forward to continuing these services for MBEs and continuing to expand our reach across the state.”

The NM MBDA is a component of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), dedicated to fostering growth and global competitiveness of minority business enterprises. Operated by the City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department, it is part of a national network that focuses on addressing equity gaps in small business communities with an emphasis on advancing minority business enterprises.
