Los Alamos National Laboratory named among 'Top Companies for Latinas to Work for in 2022' by LATINA Style Magazine

Los Alamos National Laboratory has been recognized as one of the "Top Companies for Latinas to Work for in the United States in 2022" by LATINA Style magazine. The announcement was made on September 26, 2023, and the selection was based on assessments of workplace factors significant to LATINA Style readers.

According to a press release, Los Alamos National Laboratory ranked 33rd out of 50 companies evaluated and achieved this recognition for the fifth consecutive year. It is also the only national laboratory to be included on the list. The 2023 LATINA Style 50 Awards and Diversity Leaders Conference marked 25 years of honoring corporate leadership in America.

The evaluation criteria for this recognition included factors such as Latina workforce growth, retention, mentoring programs, education support, benefits, affinity groups, and community engagement. The data used for the 2022 report reflects the year 2021.

Acting Diversity Officer Katherine Haight expressed her pride in the Laboratory's achievement, stating, "The Laboratory is honored to be recognized as a top employer for promoting diversity and providing career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women for the fifth year in a row." She further emphasized the value that Hispanic women bring to the success of the Laboratory, highlighting the importance of diverse thought and perspective.

Unica Viramontes, HOLA ERG executive champion and associate Laboratory director for LANL's Defense Protection Program, also commented on the recognition. "Receiving this recognition is an incredible honor for LANL and our efforts to promote diversity and provide career advancement opportunities for Hispanic women," she said. Viramontes emphasized the integral role of the Hispanic community in the Laboratory's future success and their commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where Hispanic women feel welcomed and can excel.
