The CNM/UNM App Contest is currently accepting submissions from students, providing an exciting opportunity for current students at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and the University of New Mexico (UNM). This year's competition is taking a different approach to give more students the chance to participate.

The App Contest, which was announced on September 19, is now open to students from both institutions and from any discipline. Participants will have the opportunity to develop high-fidelity prototypes using Adobe XD or Figma and pitch their ideas. Registration for the contest is currently open, and it is free to participate. The deadline for registration is October 31.

Teams and individuals who register will gain access to mentoring and training sessions aimed at improving their projects and honing various skills. This contest not only provides an opportunity for students in disciplines like web design, art, and graphic design to showcase the significance of design in the app development process, but it also emphasizes the importance of pitching skills.

In previous years, the contest required students to build a fully functional app, which required technical knowledge and coding skills. However, this year's competition is all about planning and pitching their app ideas, allowing more students, especially those in art or design fields, to participate. The App Contest allows participants to work with industry-standard tools, engage in valuable mentorship experiences, and add a project to their professional portfolios, providing a path into the tech industry. The project aims to cultivate and expand the tech workforce by acknowledging the importance of creative skills in the tech world.
