The winners of the New Mexico Grown Program have been announced by the New Mexico Department of Health. A total of $3.47 million has been awarded through the New Mexico Grown program this year. Of this amount, $2 million has been allocated for schools, $300,000 for preschools, and $1.17 million for senior centers. The program aims to support local growers and improve the health of communities by promoting the consumption of locally grown food.
A virtual ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 13 at 2 p.m. to honor the 66 statewide winners of the Golden Chile Awards. Representatives from various government departments, including the Governor's office, the Departments of Aging and Long-Term Services, Agriculture, Early Childhood Education & Care, Health, and Public Education, will be in attendance.
