Albuquerque Police Department (APD) has recently introduced three new methods for the community to offer feedback and share information with the department. These tools aim to enhance first responders' response to service calls and improve overall community satisfaction.

One of these mechanisms is SPIDR Tech, which has been utilized by the department since October 2021. This system collects feedback through text-based surveys from individuals who have contacted 911. By assessing the satisfaction levels with APD's response to emergency calls, the department can identify areas for improvement and ensure better service in the future.

In addition to SPIDR Tech, APD introduced ZenCity's Blockwise surveys in July 2023. These surveys are delivered digitally through social media platforms and gather public perceptions regarding safety, fairness, interaction with the department, and transparency. By understanding how the community feels about these aspects, APD can make informed decisions and address concerns effectively.

The latest addition to APD's feedback mechanisms is Smart911, an information database that allows residents to create profiles containing important details such as medical information and household residents. This database ensures that first responders have access to crucial information during emergencies, enabling them to provide more efficient and tailored assistance.

APD's Chief Harold Medina emphasized the importance of listening to community voices and establishing effective lines of communication. By actively seeking feedback and information from residents, the department aims to improve its services and address community concerns promptly.

Deputy Chief JJ Griego highlighted the significance of understanding community sentiment after emergency situations. This insight helps APD evaluate the effectiveness of their dispatch system and the impact officers have on people when responding to calls for service. By gaining knowledge from these responses, APD can adjust their proactive policing strategies and better meet community needs.
