Albuquerque gallery Palette Contemporary Art and Craft will host an exhibit from July 22 to 31 featuring the work of abstract landscape artist Ginnie Baer. The exhibit will begin with a reception and artist talk from 1 to 4 p.m. July 22 and will be on display until the end of the month.

“Ginnie’s paintings were conceived originally as a potential instrument for her personal healing due to familial death and her own migraine-suffering. She attempts to explore her landscapes as an informal vessel for healing and comfort. These brightly-hued images of pink, tangerine, salmon, and sea-foam are composed in acrylic paint and executed on wood panel. Embellishment with mixed media such as sprinkles adds to the uplifting and dreamy aura which Ginnie has created,” Palette Contemporary Art and Craft owners Kurt Nelson and Carissa Staples wrote in an email alert announcing the exhibit.

With a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from The Ohio State University, artist Ginnie Baer has traveled extensively to inspire her work. According to the artist's website, she has exhibited her paintings throughout the U.S. and abroad, including a residency and exhibition in Kofu, Japan. Baer spends much time sharing her knowledge and has taught at several universities across the U.S. She is now an online lecturer in studio art at Oklahoma State University.

Founded almost 20 years ago, Palette Contemporary Art and Craft offers colorful contemporary art characterized by clean lines and minimal and abstract designs, and accommodates all budgets. Their collections include a diverse range of mediums such as international art glass sculpture, paintings, limited edition prints, jewelry, wooden objects and works-in-clay. “The "world is our oyster" and we look far and wide to find artwork and other objects that are both consistent to our historical gallery taste and simultaneously offer people items that can be acquired across the price spectrum,” Palette owner Kurt Nelson told New Mexico Sun.

Palette's exhibits vary throughout the year and can be accessed through various online platforms, according to the New Mexico Sun interview. Other exhibitions this year featured Jean George Weigel (Painter) in late January and Doug Harroun (Glass Marble Artist) in March. “We try to balance our in-gallery shows with those outside of the Albuquerque area in order to attract a broader customer base. In the past, we have exhibited at such shows as: SOFA Chicago (Sculptural Objects and Functional Art) which traditionally has been a fine contemporary art glass show, Palm Springs Modernism, and The Los Angeles Art Show for starters,” said Nelson.

In August, Palette will participate in "The Objects of Art Show in Santa Fe" followed by a "Pop-Up/Contemporary Show." In mid-September, it will exhibit at the "Reno Tahoe International Art Show," according to the interview with the New Mexico Sun.
