On June 30, 2023, the City of Santa Fe completed the submission of its Fiscal Year 2021 external financial statement and compliance audit to the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor (OSA). Mayor Alan Webber expressed his satisfaction with this milestone, highlighting its significance as a successful achievement deserving acknowledgment in a July press release by The City of Santa Fe.

"Submitting this audit is a successful step that deserves recognition," Webber said in the release. "There’s more to be done, but that doesn’t diminish this important milestone. Director Oster and her team said the audit would go in on June 30. Promise made, promise kept. Good work, and thanks to the whole team."

Throughout the process, the city worked in close collaboration with its Independent Public Accountant (IPA), displaying a steadfast commitment to meeting the established deadline, according to the release.

The City of Santa Fe conducted the audit exit conference on June 29, 2023, in accordance with the requirements of the New Mexico State Audit Rule (2.2.2.10.M NMAC). As mandated by the rule, the independent public accountant organized a formal meeting involving representatives from the audited agency's governing authority and top management. The purpose of the exit conference was to present the draft audit report and engage in a comprehensive discussion regarding the auditor's opinions, findings and recommendations. During this meeting, the scope of the audit engagement, the responsibilities of both the auditor and management, as well as other pertinent aspects of the audit, were thoroughly reviewed and addressed, according to the press release.

"I am proud of the hard work that our dedicated team put in to achieve this important milestone. Submitting the Fiscal Year 2021 audit to the State Auditor’s Office is a key step towards achieving our goal of timely and accurate financial reporting," Emily Oster, Finance Director for the City of Santa Fe, said in the release.
