The Albuquerque Public Schools Community Clothing Bank is making a special call for clothing that will benefit students looking to attend prom this year.
The clothing bank is in need of dresses, tuxes, shoes, ties and any other accessories suitable for the big event.
“Our primary focus is on those basic needs, supporting the students learning in the classroom,” Project coordinator Erin Leue told KRQE. “But, being able to provide the prom wear helps provide students the opportunity they may not have if they wanted to go to prom.”
Schools can contact the clothing bank and set up times for a ‘prom trunk show’ where the clothing bank will bring all its prom clothing for students to shop, free of charge. The clothing bank said it was able to help 154 students from 10 high schools last year.
The prom trunk shows are open to all APS and charter schools. For more information and donation information, visit the APS community clothing bank website.
