The Girl Scouts of Albuquerque are enjoying a fresh-looking building thanks to the generosity of Mike’s Quality Painting.

The company donated $10,000 worth of painting services after the Girl Scouts won Mike's “Paint it Forward” award, according to KRQE. Painters refurbished the Girl Scouts facility in northwest Albuquerque, the article said.

Leaders of the Girl Scouts, a nonprofit organization, were grateful for the fresh coat of paint, which they didn't have the means to fully accomplish on their own, and how it might impact the Scouts. The organization is known for helping girls grow courageous and strong through a wide variety of experiences like field trips, skill-building sports clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges and environmental stewardships.

“Part of what we’re doing for Girl Scouts, we wanted to make this more inviting to the girls, to have a place to come and enjoy all the activities that they do here. So, it’s very exciting,” Administration and Operations Director Annette LeFebre told KRQE. “This is amazing what Mike’s Painting has done.”

According to the article, the girls weren’t present during the painting project, but they kept busy as it was the first day of their Girl Scout cookies sale.

This is the fifth year of the “Paint it Forward” program, the news story said.

According to the Girl Scouting website, "When you’re a Girl Scout, you call the shots. Every Girl Scout has their own curiosity, dreams and talents—so when they come together to decide which of the thousands of Girl Scout activities to try, the sky’s the limit. Whether visiting an animal shelter, camping, hosting a dance-off or filming a movie—they’re learning to take risks, trust their gut and team up with others for good."

The website also mentioned forever bonds of friendship and the joy that results as Girl Scouts "cheer each other on in tough times" and as they gain confidence in trying new likes, even climbing to a mountain top.
