A right-to-life advocate is denouncing the opening of a telehealth abortion clinic available to New Mexicans.

Based in Salem, Mass., The Satanic Temple is calling itself the world’s first-ever religious abortion clinic.  A release from the organization said that it will provide 24/7 virtual appointments for patients in New Mexico to receive abortion medication.

“They’re trying to make it a religious right so that they can use, I guess, the First Amendment right to practice, but that’s different, freedom of speech and religion,” Ethel Maharg, Right to Life executive director, told KOB 4 recently. “It’s just an egregious thing.”

In its release, the Satanic Temple—the subject of the documentary “Hail Satan?”—claimed they have argued in lawsuits that abortion through their organization is exempt legally because the procedure is “an essential part of a religious practice.”
