A stolen specialized RV belonging to an Albuquerque woman was discovered in East Los Angeles, but the cost to repair the extensive damage could be high.
"I've been on this rollercoaster of 'Yay, I found my perfect car,' 'Oh dear, can I do this drive?', 'Yay, I did it,' 'Oh, now they stole it," Jill Silverthorne said.
Silverthorne's RV was stolen on Christmas Day while she was in California, according to KOB 4. She is now back in Albuquerque and has seen pictures of the RV.
"Everything through the whole RV is a mess," she said of the vehicle's condition.
The seats in the vehicle, televisions, and wheelchair lift were ripped out, KOB 4 reported. The amount of damage that her insurance will cover is unknown.
Silverthorne needs an electric wheelchair to get around, according to KOB 4. But, she still likes to travel. She saved her money and eventually bought the RV, which included a wheelchair lift and other necessities.
"It took me years to save that money, and I still needed the help of my friends," she said.
Silverthorne is currently borrowing an electric wheelchair and trying to keep her spirits up.
“[I'm] trying to stay in a positive attitude and not throw myself a pity party because nobody brings balloons anyway," she said. "Might as well stay as positive and in the moment as I can."
Police have not made an arrest, KOB 4 reported. A GoFundMe page was started to help Silverthorne replace some of the items that were stolen.
