Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) recently allocated $1.7 million for bridge repairs in Roswell.

A bridge in the city collapsed following flooding in June, according to KOAT.

"We want to be ahead of our infrastructure investments," Lujan Grisham said. "The more that we put in communities so that we have safe roads, safe bridges, safe flood mitigation, the better it is for these communities."

The $1.7 million in funding is intended to pay for the bridge repairs and to improve flood mitigation. This will help protect the bridge from floods and other weather catastrophes in the future, KOAT reported. The bridge is located close to the intersection of La Jara Road and East Mescalero Road.
