For those seeking a place to enjoy delicious wine and tasty treats, Vara Winery and Distillery is a popular destination on the Albuquerque calendar of events. Vara, according to its website, offers two daily seatings to enjoy Spanish and American wines “artisanally crafted spirits, tasty tapas, and dramatic sunsets.”

With seatings available at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., visitors are invited to relax on the patio to savor “wine that connects the rich histories of Spain and New Mexico while honoring the birthplace of the American wine experience.”

Available cocktails are crafted from Vara's handcrafted brandies, rums, gin or Taylor Garrett whiskey. Complimented with a pan of paella or savory tapas, the tasting experience satisfies the senses. A $30 fee includes a flight of six wines and a light cheese plate. Tours of the winery and distillery are also available.
